New Music Report from Dan Close

As we turn the calendar to December, we’ll be turning on the Christmas music here on Your Good News Network! As usual, there’s no shortage of new Christmas music (and some remade classics) as you celebrate the birth of Jesus!

First up, Phil Wickham gifts us with his latest, “Manger Throne,” a strong reminder of why we celebrate Christmas. Yes, His birth was humble, but His kingship is eternal!

The movie Journey To Bethlehem hit theaters last month and included Steven Curtis Chapman’s new release “Brand New Life,” a song of celebration about the coming of Jesus to earth wrapped in human flesh, bringing the hope of salvation to us!

Matthew West has written many Christmas songs, including “The Hope Of Christmas,” “A Christmas To Believe In,” and the light hearted “Come On, Christmas”–just to name a few. He’s back at it this Christmas with a great new song entitled “Because Of Bethlehem,” highlighting the little town that played a huge role in the greatest story ever told.

Okay, I have a confession: I LOVE the 1970s Paul McCartney song “Wonderful Christmastime”–even though it perennially makes the “worst of” list every December. If you happen to be one of those who doesn’t care for it, perhaps the new version recorded by Blessing Offor will change your mind. 🙂

I’ve only begun to scratch the surface of all the new Christmas songs you’ll be hearing this month on WRGN. I trust they’ll help you smile, sing along, and most importantly, focus on the greatest gift ever given – Jesus Christ! Have a blessed Christmas!
