That is exactly why Hebrews 13:15 calls it a “sacrifice of praise.” True praise isn’t just a happy feeling; it is a beautiful, deliberate choice to honor God even when it costs us something. It means choosing to look past our immediate pain and focus entirely on His unchanging goodness. So how do we actually make that joyful leap from a heavy heart to a song of praise?

Two powerful keys in this verse show us the way! First, we do it through Jesus. Our praise doesn’t depend on our own strength or having a great day; it relies entirely on what Jesus has already done for us. Second, we are called to praise Him continually. When we cultivate a daily habit of looking for God’s blessings in the ordinary moments, we build a momentum that carries us steadily through any storm.
