Bright or bleak? Bullish or bearish? No, I am not talking about the stock market… I am talking about the future. If you watch the talking heads, it is very easy to get swept up into the prognosticating. Will the economy ever get better? Will the wars in the Middle East and Europe ever be resolved? Who will win in the upcoming primaries? Some people enjoy the exercise of the discussion, for others it simply brings fear and anxiety.
Whichever side you fall on, know this; God is not surprised by what is going on in the world today. He never looks around and says, “Oh my, I never thought that was going to happen!” In fact, he outlines in Matthew 24 what the future will be like. Here’s the thing about an outline though, the details have yet to be worked out, at least for us to see!
In verse 45 of Matthew 24, he also tells us what our responsibility is to be. Faithful! Does looking at the future paralyze you with fear, or spur you on to faithfulness? At WRGN, we encourage you to the latter. Our message is one of hope and good news, so turn off the talking heads and turn on the Good News Network. Be secure in the knowledge that God cannot be surprised. Do not worry, but rather do the work that God has called us to do.
