New Music Report from Dan Close

We’re already one month into 2023, and the new music is coming to us in bunches! We trust you’ll be lifted up and encouraged by these new songs, plus more new music this month from Shane & Shane, Patrick Mayberry, Jon Reddick, and Cochren & Co.

Brooke Ligertwood

It’s something we might not often think about, but anytime we’re singing out to God, whether in our car or during a Sunday morning service, we’re joining with the angels and saints in heaven singing praises as well. God is worthy of our endless worship, and Brooke Ligertwood’s latest single “A Thousand Hallelujahs” reminds us of the great honor it is to sing to our Savior.

Dedicated. Committed. Devoted. Loyal. They are some of the words that came up when I searched other meanings of “Wholehearted,” the title of a new We Are Messengers song. It’s a great reminder to us that our God is faithful and remains wholehearted, even when we’re not.

Leanna Crawford

We read in Psalm 19:1, “The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament shows His handiwork.” The newest song from Leanna Crawford, “How Can You Not,” takes a look at creation, and the God behind it all. Whether it’s the night sky, a bird chirping outside your window, or YOU, He’s the One who made it!

After a year in which Phil Wickham released “Battle Belongs,” “Hymn of Heaven,” and “House of the Lord,” he’s back at it in 2023 with a great new song for the church entitled “This Is Our God.” It’s the lead single of his album which will be released later this year. Keep your ears open for this one–chances are, you’ll be singing it at a worship service pretty soon!
