Summer Reading Awaits – June 2026
The Good News Library’s Spring Book Sale recently wrapped up, and we are so thankful for the wonderful response from our community! Over four days, 439 books found new homes, and over $800 was raised to support the library.
The Book Sale was about more than simply finding books new homes. It was a wonderful reminder that reading continues to matter and that families in our community still love discovering stories and God’s Truth together! We enjoyed seeing parents and children browsing side by side and even welcomed one visitor who faithfully drives two hours each year to attend. Another memorable sight was a father and adult son spending time together as they searched through books. Behind the scenes, volunteers also served across 13 different shifts to help make the event possible.
One thing became especially clear: people still love books — especially Christian books. In a world filled with screens and digital distractions, there is still something special about holding a book in your hands and sharing stories, truth, and learning with others.
And now, that excitement is carrying right into summer with The Great Summer Reading Adventure! From June 1 to August 31, children of all ages are invited to participate in two different ways!
First, children can join the Reading Road Trip by adding a category-themed shape to our window for every book they read throughout the summer. As children read books, the window will continue to grow into a colorful display of the kids’ reading adventures taking place this summer. Every book read counts toward the challenge, and the child who reads the most books will win a special prize!
Children can also take part in the Passport Adventure, designed to encourage young readers to explore different types of books. Kids will receive a passport and collect “stamps” by reading books from categories such as mystery, adventure, Bible stories, history, and more. Children only need to complete 12 of the 16 categories to finish their passport journey, and every child who completes it will receive a $10 gift card to The Lands at Hillside Farms to celebrate their accomplishment.
Stop by the library front desk beginning June 1 to sign up and join the adventure! The Good News Library is open weekdays 9 am – 4:30 pm, and memberships are just a $5 donation.
