From Us to You – June 2025

BUSY! How often have you said that word in relation to the question “How are you doing?” It seems to be our go-to answer, no matter what’s going on, though there are certainly times that are “busier” than others.

Springtime tends to be one of those times. It seems that with the end of school and all the things that come with it (recitals, graduation, graduation parties, sports banquets, and the like), not to mention everything outside growing faster than we can keep up with, it’s hard to find time to simply rest. I thought about that as I sat on our back porch watching the rain falling and the grass growing!

It brought to mind Hebrews 4:9, which tells us, “There remains therefore a rest for the people of God.” Oftentimes, we think about that in relation to our eternal rest, but God offers a Sabbath rest as well! A rest for the here and now. The thing is, it’s not just a physical rest, but a spiritual rest as well. Resting in the work of Christ that was done on the cross. If we look at the whole of the passage in Hebrews 4, we see that rest is the main thrust of the passage.

How often are we tempted to be so “busy” FOR God, that we forget to rest in the promise FROM God that “His grace is sufficient” for us! (2 Corinthians 12:9)

So I’m trying to find a better answer when I’m asked, “How are you doing?” Maybe as I enter the summer, I’ll try this: “Resting in God’s grace.” Is there a better way to say it? Let me know — I’m open to suggestions! In the meantime,

I am…

Resting in God’s grace,
