The Trucksville United Methodist Church invites the community to a free meal and movie night on Saturday, July 18th @ 5.30pm. The event will feature the movie “Amazing Grace”. The inspiring true story of William Wilberforce’s tireless effort to end the transatlantic slave trade.

Set in 18th-century England, House of Commons member William Wilberforce and his close friend and a future prime minister, William Pitt, begin a lengthy battle to abolish Great Britain’s slave trade. Though Wilberforce’s legislation is soundly defeated in 1791, his growing affection for Barbara Spooner inspires him to take up the fight once more.

Also included is the story of the conversion of John Newton (Albert Finney), the captain of a slave trading vessel, to Christianity and the words he wrote for what has become one of our most beautiful hymns: Amazing Grace.

Balancing political intrigue, moral conviction, and personal struggle, the film delivers a stately yet heartfelt period drama with strong performances and historical resonance.
It is a moving, uplifting watch for those who value stories of justice and perseverance.

The evening will include hot dogs, hamburgers, and sides along with ice-cream sundaes and cookies. While the event is free, there will be a free will offering.
